Geraldine Hayes Nelson, Ph. D.

Geraldine Hayes Nelson possesses her Ph. D. in Higher Education Administration from Kent State University. She has served in various leadership roles, from Associate Dean, of Undergraduate Studies, Assistant Vice-President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and is a recent retiree from Kent State University. She is an educator whose is proactive in engaging higher education and Ohio citizens at all levels in working together for change and issues to address discrimination, and social injustice. As a community leader, she has provided service in various community-based organizations and has received numerous awards. She is a strong advocate on issues concerning single parents, women, racial justice, tolerance, giving voice to young people, teaching tolerance and diversity initiatives. She has served on various community and boards. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions. She attends Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Akron, Ohio. She is the mother of three adult children and is married to Donald F. Nelson.
