Through our classes here at Weathervane Playhouse, we encourage students to think outside of the box and use their imaginations to explore, create, learn, and grow. Our classes allow students to gain an understanding and appreciation for the art of theatre while they develop into artists and build confidence that can be translated from the stage to their everyday lives. We strive to create a positive experience for each student that they can cherish for years to come. 

Our Fall Theatre Academy is a 10 week long session starting Saturday, September 21st - November 23rd. Classes are offered for ages 3-17 and include Acting, Musical Theatre, Improv, Music, Dance, Technical Theatre and more! The session will end with final presentations on the last day, Saturday, November 18th on our Weathervane stage!

FALL THEATRE ACADEMY 2024

INTRODUCTION TO ACTING AND IMPROV: TOY box

Ages 5 to 7

Saturdays 10:15 -11:15 a.m.

Tuition: $180.00

Learn theatre skills through creative play! Students will study story structure, character development, acting techniques, and improv! They will be given one-on-one instruction as well as learning with a group. This is an excellent foundational class. Come explore, build self-confidence, and learn something new!

INTRODUCTION TO ACTING AND IMPROV: TAKE THE STAGE

Ages 8 to 12

Saturdays 9:00 -10:00 a.m.

Tuition: $180.00

This class is designed for beginning actors wanting a fun introduction to the theatre world. Students will develop new skills in acting techniques, movement, vocal color, script interpretation, and improvisation. Each student will leave with basic audition techniques and material to help support their journey. They will be given one-on-one instruction as well as learning with a group. This is an excellent foundational class. Come explore, build self-confidence, and learn something new!

INTERMEDIATE ACTING 

Ages 12 to 17 

Saturdays 10:15 - 11:15 a.m.

Tuition: $180.00

This class is designed for the child who has participated in an “Introduction to Acting” class or has equivalent experience on stage. Students will be encouraged to expand their performance skills to create characters with depth and motivation, study scene work, monologues, and use their basic knowledge of theatre vocabulary to interpret the essentials of a scene. Each student will leave the class with new acting material and be ready to take on their next audition or performance!

*Introduction to Acting is recommended before taking this class.

 

Broadway tots

Ages 3 to 4

Saturdays 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.

Tuition: $180.00

For our tiniest stars in the making! Come sing, dance, and act to your favorite Disney and Broadway songs while learning basic performance skills. Students will also learn dance and music vocabulary in this excellent foundational musical theatre class. Get ready to have some fun and sing your hearts out!

Come grow in confidence onstage and off! (Parents/Caretakers: we will be offereing an ADULT ZUMBA fitness class at this same time!)

TrIPLE THREAT

Ages 12 to 17

Saturdays 11:30 - 12:30 p.m.

Students will build on their dance techniques, performance skills, and vocal musicality to take their training to the next level. Are you ready to take on the title of “Triple Threat”? Come find out this Fall!

(This class is recommended for students who already have performance experience and/or training in some aspects of musical theatre.)

Jedi Training

Ages 6 to 10

Saturdays 11:30 - 12:30 p.m.

Tuition: $180.00

The Force is strong with this one … Join our Jedi Master to train and go from Padawan to Jedi OR embrace your inner darkness to join the Sith’s. You will go through a series of activities, learning choreographed movements, basic stage combat, and combat techniques to create an action story that would impress even Jabba the Hutt! Students will be provided with robes and lightsabers to use during the workshop…everything a Jedi or Sith needs!

MUSIC MANIA

Ages 5 to 8

Saturdays 11:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M.

Tuition: $180.00

Students will learn the building blocks of vocal singing technique, music theory, and piano skills in this high-energy music class! They will advance their musicality, rhythm, and vocal health. Students will sing both individually and as a group working through harmonies, blending, and ear training. A perfect class for our budding musicians and vocalists!

Production workshop: scenes and selections from "the wizard of oz"

Ages 7 and up

Saturdays 12:30 p.m - 2:00 p.m.

Tuition: $250.00

This class will give students the experience of putting on a show in a supportive environment! From auditioning tips and the casting process, to rehearsals, to performing on our stage on the last day of class, students will gain a full understanding of what being in a show is all about! Let’s create OZ together and feel the magic of bringing beloved characters like Dorothy, Scarecrow, and the Wicked Witch herself to life! All ages are welcome as we have an array of wonderful characters to cast!

tech Production workshop: scenes and selections from "the wizard of oz"

Ages 10 and up

Saturdays 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Tuition: $230.00

For our tech-minded students who want hands-on experience designing and running a show! Throughout this class, students will work together to create props and scenery, lighting design, costuming, and stage management. Come be a part of the magic in creating OZ.
