We are very excited to introduce our Summer Theatre Academies 2021! For the first time EVER we will be offering two academies, one for in-person camps and the other for virtual camps. We have a variety of camp options in both academies for different age ranges starting at 5 to 17 throughout the summer. 

Camps will begin June 7th and run until August 13th.

Partial-scholarship support is available for classes at Weathervane due to the generous support from the community. To apply, please fill out a scholarship application or call (330) 836-2626 to request an application (via the mail).
All scholarship requests must be received no later than two weeks prior to the start of class.

Weathervane’s In-person Summer Academy 2021 offers a wide variety of camps focusing on acting, storytelling, musical theatre, and dance. Camps range from one to two week camps ending in a final presentation. Students will bring their own lunch each day and must follow all Safety guidelines presented by the theatre. Kids Take the Stage, Act I: The Life of our Pets

Ever wonder what your pets do when you're not around? Join us to explore the life of our pets through acting games, storytelling, and creative fun! Students will spend their days using their imaginations to bring stories to life, create their own furry characters, and produce their own play to share on the last day of camp. Join us to brush up on your acting skills and learn all about what theatre has to offer!

Kids Take the Stage, Act II: Let’s save the world!

Create your own play in this two-week acting camp! What does it take to save the world? What happens when the underdog becomes the hero? Students will explore these ideas through acting and creative activities to develop their own plot, characters, and script bringing their story of triumph to life on stage! Teen Intensive: "The Box" by Lindsay Price

Our Teen Intensive is for students who are ready to put on a show! This fast-paced workshop produces a production in 2 weeks. Musical Theatre Cabaret: Creating with Colors

Broadway Boot Camp: Get your head in the Game!

Let’s bring sports and musical theatre together in this one-week dance camp! Students will learn fun choreography inspired by sports themed musicals and songs. Dancers will perform what they learned on that last day of camp. Jazz shoes or sneakers are required. 

Broadway Boot Camp: De Mille Musicals

Experience the unique style of the one of a kind Agnes de Mille, known for creating the dream ballet in musicals and her unique choreography in broadway shows such as “Oklahoma!” and “Carousel”. Explore the way classical dance styles such as modern and ballet are used in broadway musicals.  This camp will keep you on your feet learning technique and upbeat choreography that will be shared on the last day of camp. Jazz shoes or Ballet shoes are required. 


Weathervane’s Virtual Summer Academy is back offering some great camp options for virtual learning. All of our virtual camps have been designed to be done online via ZOOM for one week. Campers will receive camp packages with supplies (if applicable) the week before the camp begins. Campers will also have a working lunch break each day away from the screen to complete tasks. Silly Scenes and Stories: Free to be me!

It’s back this summer with new scenes and stories! Learn theatre skills through creative play, students will study story structure and character development using silly stories and games about being the best you can be. This virtual camp is a great way to learn the basics of theatre and performance skills. Each day, students will meet with their instructor LIVE via zoom. The session will end with a virtual presentation that will be shared with family and friends. 

Tech Intensive: "The Drowsy Chaperone"

Tech Track is going virtual! This camp is for students who want to study the visual elements of theatre from costumes, props, lighting and set design.
