Winter Workshops 2020 


Ages 3-5
Saturdays 10:30-11:15 a.m. January 18-Feburary 15
Tuition: $70.00

It’s back! Fun while learning is the main objective. Students explore the basic concepts of pitch and rhythm using games, eurhythmics, and tone poems to introduce the basics of reading music and ear training. Each session ends with a class demonstration, including a song with choreographed movements. Join us as we hop, skip, and jumpstart our way into the world of music.

Theatre Toy Land 
Ages 5-8
Saturdays 10:00-11:00 a.m. January 11-Feburary 8
Tuition: $80.00

What happens when toys come to life? Create and explore characters based on your favorite toys in this fun filled workshop. Students will engage their imagination and creative skills through a number of theatre games and activities based on classic toys. Through this theme they will learn about creating character, costume design, storytelling, and more. Why did the toys cross the road? Find out this winter! 
This workshop is great for beginners as well as experienced performers.

Improv Workshop  
Ages 8-17
Saturday 9:00-10:00 a.m. January 11-Feburary 8
Tuition: $80.00

Explore the elements of improvisation and experience the power of play with this introductory improv workshop.  Students will focus on various games and exercises that encourage trust, communication, active listening, character development, and team work. You never know what will happen...that's why it's improv! This workshop is great for beginners as well as experienced improvers.

Ages 10-17
Saturday 10:00-11:30 a.m. January 11-Feburary 8
Tuition: $85.00

We added another Acting Techniques Workshop from 11:30-1:00 p.m. REGISTER 

This workshop will provide the actor with a place of analysis while they compare different techniques and how they fit with their personal talent and where it works best in their “actor tool belt”. Students will visit table work, script analysis, movement actions, character development and more as brought to us by Stanislavski, Laban, Lecoq, Chekhov, Bogart and Meisner. This workshop is designed for all levels of performers.

Musical Theatre Choreography 
Ages 9-17
Saturday 9:00-10:00 a.m. January 11-Feburary 8
Tuition: $80.00

Want to brush up on your dancing skills? This workshop will focus on choreography to music from some of your favorite shows. Each week will be a new combination in enhance your audition skills, learning choreography at a fast pace, and embracing different styles. Come dance with us this winter! This workshop is great for beginners as well as experienced performers/dancers.

Music Theory Workshop
Ages 10-17
Saturday 11:30-1:00 p.m. January 18-Feburary 15
Tuition: $85.00

A perfect workshop for those interested in music and musical theatre! Music Theory is a comprehensive exploration into the fundamentals of reading music. The class will cover the staff, clef signs, key signatures, scales, note values, time signatures, complex rhythms, ear training and sight singing in a fun way. Music Theory is like basic grammar in any language. Once you learn how to read and write the language, you can read others creations and create your own musical ideas for others to enjoy. This workshop is great for beginners as well as experienced performers.


Let the Sorting begin...

Give the gift of Hogwarts! Join us for our third annual  Hogwarts Holiday Express at Weathervane Playhouse to catch a glimpse of what we offer at our Summer Theatre Academy. 

Students will  be "pre-sorted" into houses and take part in classes such as Potions, Magical Cooking, Muggle Studies, and more! The event will end with a feast featuring Muggle food plus beverages and desserts made by the students in their Magical Cooking Class. The event ends with the awarding of the House Cup!

Students can also earn a SPEW (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare) Badge by donating a new stuffed animal or socks to be donated to the Battered Women's Shelter.
