Weathervane’s Summer Theatre Academy 2023 offers a wide variety of camps focusing on acting, storytelling, musical theatre, dance and more! Camps range from one- to two-week sessions, with each ending in a final presentation. Students will bring their own lunch each day.

Camps begin June 5 and run through August 11, 2023, and are offered for ages 5 to 17.

SUMMER THEATER CAMPS 2023

Acting and Theatre Camps

Kids Take the Stage, Act 1: Wild Wild West
Ages 5 to 8
June 5 – June 16 ( 2 Weeks) 
10:00 am- 2:00 pm (Check in at 9:45)
Tuition: $315.00

Join us as explore life as cowboys and cowgirls to through acting games, storytelling, and creative fun! Students will spend their days using their imaginations to bring their own original stories to life inspired by the old west and its characters to create a final presentation being presented on the last day of camp. So, grab your trusty steed and hat and join us this summer!

 
Kids Take the Stage, Act 2: The Magic IF
Ages 8 to 12
July 17 – July 28 (2 weeks)
10:00 am- 2:00 pm
Tuition: $315.00

Create your own play in this two-week acting camp! Imagine IF dinosaurs still existed? Or IF the Titanic never hit the iceberg?  Students will explore IF historical moments that changed our world were altered through acting and creative activities to develop their own plot, characters, and script bringing their Imagine IF story to life on stage! Students will present their play on the last day of camp. 

 

TEEN INTENSIVES

Performance Intensive
Ages 11 to 17
June 12 –June 23 (2 weeks)
10:00 am- 3:00 pm
Tuition: $365.00

Our performance Intensive is for students who are ready to put on a show! This fast-paced workshop produces a production in 2 weeks. Students will work with a professional director and receive training and guidance to bring their masterpiece to life.

Tech Intensive
Ages 10 to 17
June 12 – June 23 (2 weeks)
10:00 am- 3:00 pm
Tuition: $350

The Tech Intensive is a 2-week program for students who want to study the visual elements of theatre from costumes, props, lighting and set design. Students will work alongside our technical staff and a performance intensive director to design, create, and run tech for the final performance.

Embrace your inner villain and sing, dance, and act in this one-week summer camp! Students will work with an instructor to create characters, perform choreography, and sing songs inspired by the evil villains of well-known stories! Students will present their wicked performance on the last day of camp. So come take a bit of this delicious apple and join us this summer!

The Open Seas
Ages 8 to 12
July 10 – July 14 (1 Week)

Join us for a voyage in this one-week musical theatre camp! Students will learn and piece together a performance with songs inspired by the open seas. Students will learn fun choreography and music, building their performance skills and confidence! Our performers will present on the last day of camp for family and friends. Bon Voyage!

Monster Mash
Ages 12 to 17
July 24 – July 28 (1 Week)

Darkness falls across the land this summer as you join us for a monstrous good time! This summer students will create a story with music, dance, and acting using songs inspired by our favorite ghouls and goblins. Performers will present their final performance on the last day for family and friends. So come join us for one spooky camp!

 

DANCE AND MOVEMENT CAMPS

Broadway Disney A
Ages 7 to 11
June 5th – June 9th   
10:00 am- 2:00 pm
Tuition: $195.00

Join us as we explore Disney through the Broadway lens of tap! Students will improve their dancing skills through fun and enriching tap choreography while also exposing themselves to different shows and music in the style of Disney in this one-week camp. Dancers will present what they learned on the last day of camp. Become king of the New York and open your eyes to a whole new world of dancing and musical theatre!

Tap shoes are required.

 

SPECIALTY CAMPS

The Directing Project
Ages 10 to 17
July 24th – August 4th
10:00 am- 2:00 pm
Tuition: $365
Learn what it’s like to run the show! In this class, students will learn the principles and practices of being a stage director. Students will cast, stage, rehearse, and present short scenes with the assistance of an experienced instructor. Students from the class will also gain the benefit of acting in each other’s scenes.
 
*Must apply or be recommended for this class. Prior acting classes or performance experience is required.
