Weathervane Playhouse is pleased to announce the formation of a book club — and invites all who are interested to crack open a book and then crack open your mind to share your thoughts and impressions!
Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the following books over the next few months as part of Weathervane Playhouse’s Community Engagement programming:
► On Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 come to discuss Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis. Now celebrating the 60th anniversary of its publication, British journalist Toby Young has judged Lucky Jim the best comic novel of the 20th century.
► On Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 come to discuss Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria? by Beverly Daniel Tatum, Ph.D. This book has been described as a great starting point for conversations on race relations.
► On Monday, Feb. 16, 2014 come to discuss Take the Risk by Dr. Ben Carson. Dr. Carson discusses the ideas of security and risk in our culture and revealing the purpose of our lives.
On Each Monday book club, the discussion begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Playhouse, 1301 Weathervane Lane in Akron.
