Announcing the New Season!
Weathervane’s 2012-2013 Season Will Serve up a Varied Theatrical Mix!

Spring is the season of renewal, rebirth and all things new – and it’s no different for Weathervane Playhouse, whose Executive Director John Hedges is pleased to announce the productions planned for Weathervane’s 2012-2013 season, the theater’s 78th season of theatrical art, education and entertainment.

“The Stories of Your Life” stands as the new season’s overarching theme to describe the 12-show season, says Hedges, who is responsible for the selection of the plays in the new season.

The 2012-2013 season – which runs from July 2012 through June 2013 – consists of seven Mainstage Series productions, three Young Actor Series productions and two Dietz Theater productions.

The variety of play choices represented in the new season – four comedies, four dramas and four musicals – will offer area audiences a diverse depth of entertainment choices and provide Weathervane’s volunteer actors and designers with many exciting and varied artistic opportunities, Hedges said.

New this season is the inclusion of the Playhouse’s annual “holiday special” production into its regular Mainstage Series of shows. Previously, this annual production had been an extra production that Weathervane subscribers could add “a la carte.” For the 2012-2013 season, Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol – a funny and slightly irreverent “re-imagining” of a Christmas classic – will be included automatically in all Mainstage Series subscription packages. This play will “share the stage” and run in rotation with the annual Young Actors Series holiday-time production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (which in 2012 will mark its 13th consecutive staging).

Single tickets for the summer Young Actor Series production of Annie will go on sale May 1, 2012. Single tickets for all other shows will go on sale Sept. 4, 2012.

In the meantime, audiences can grab the best seats in advance by purchasing a subscription. Subscription packages are on sale now. With prices ranging between $30 and $172, subscribers have many convenient options. Subscribers can choose a two-play, seven-play or “Whole Kit ‘n’ Kaboodle” 12-play package – and the Playhouse will continue to offer its popular “Super Coupon Book” of eight, pre-paid, flexible-admission vouchers. At this time, online subscription sales are not available. For subscription inquiries, please call the Weathervane Box Office at 330-836-2626 during regular hours of operation: Mondays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
