(Nov. 1, 2011 – Akron, Ohio – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) Back by popular demand, 18 performances of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be presented live on stage at Weathervane Playhouse for its twelfth annual holiday production of this musical favorite.

This season's production — again beautifully directed and choregraphed by Sarah Elaine Bailey — includes dozens of new costumes, new set pieces, beautifully executed choreography and a huge and talented youth cast from such Northeast Ohio communities as Akron, Barberton, Canal Fulton, Clinton, Copley, Cuyahoga Falls, Massillon and Medina!

With musical direction by Sharon Dobbins Alberson, Weathervane Playhouse's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a rainbow ride through ancient Egypt on the wings of Andrew Lloyd Webber's uplifting music and the humor of lyricist Tim Rice.

The musical tells the Old Testament story of Joseph, a young man with a knack for having prophetic dreams. Joseph incurs the jealousy of his brothers when his father gives him a magnificent colorful coat. The adventure that ensues tells an epic tale of biblical proportion! Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has instant appeal for every audience member of any age, shimmering with elaborately staged production numbers and a score full of hits.

Weathervane Playhouse’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat cast will be joined on stage by several local youth choruses. Over the course of the four-week run, Weathervane will welcome a youth chorus comprised of students from the Falcon Academy of the Arts (from Field Local Schools in Portage County) plus four Akron Public Schools youth choruses (Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts Fourth Grade Ensemble, Ritzman Community Learning Center, Windemere Elementary School and The National Inventors Hall of Fame…Center for STEM Learning).

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the second of three productions in Weathervane Playhouse’s 2011-2012 Young Actor Series, will be on stage at the Playhouse from Tuesday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011.

Audiences are advised to not delay in buying tickets, as the opening-Fridayht and all four weekday-morning performances are already SOLD OUT!
